Ms. Kerley
About Me:
Hello! My name is Ms. Kerley and I am so excited for a wonderful school year with my third grade class at Barnwell Elementary School!
I have two older brothers named Jeffrey and Steven. They are both mechanical engineers living in New York and Ohio. My parents live here in Atlanta. I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but we moved a lot throughout my childhood: Ohio, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, back to New Jersey, and finally Florida, where I graduated from high school.
When I was in third grade I lived in Lisle, Illinois. My favorite subject was writing. I would sit in my room for hours writing stories about animals. Meanwhile, math was my most difficult subject. Surprisingly, that is why math is my favorite subject to teach! I understand how it feels to struggle. In fourth grade, I began playing flute. Music has been a major part of my life ever since.
After I graduated from high school, I made the best decision of my life and chose to attend the one and only, Clemson University. I majored in Elementary Education, was a member of the university's marching band, and studied abroad in Brussels, Belgium. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in May of 2012. Most people learn within five minutes of meeting me that I am still a HUGE Clemson football fan. On Saturdays, you will find me decked out in orange and purple and cheering on my Tigers.
I love being a teacher and am excited that this will be my sixth year teaching! Before teaching 3rd grade at Barnwell, I taught pre-k and 4th grade at Shakerag Elementary.
My amazing students are the reason I look forward to coming to school every day!
